Make a difference by engaging in politics at the local level!

Represent your township or community by becoming a Precinct Captain. By acting as a liaison between Clark County voters and local officials, these valuable volunteers work to build grassroots support for the Republican Party of Clark County, OH. No special skills are required and any Clark County resident who is a registered voter can be elected or appointed. Voters with a solid Republican voting record are preferred.

Does it require a lot of time?

​

There is no predetermined time commitment. While Precinct Captains are expected to attend scheduled Central Committee meetings, the amount of time a Precinct Captain chooses to invest in their precinct depends on them and what they feel they can offer. Here members discuss Party business, policy issues and upcoming events. In certain situations, Precinct Captains vote to select appointees to local positions. During election years attendees meet candidates and hear their platforms which they can then share with the voters in their district. Inviting Republican voters to these open to the public meetings is a great way to encourage others to get involved.

How do Precinct Captains represent their district?

     Because Precinct Captains are encouraged to engage with voters, many use a voter list available through the BOE to create Republican Party support. By going door-to-door they build relationships, develop networks of volunteers and encourage voters to participate in elections. Others may choose to send mailings or have public meetings, either in their district or along with other Central Committee members. This interaction activates voters, giving them the ability to share their ideas and concerns with policy issues. While

the Republican Party of Clark County, OH does not endorse candidates during the primaries, work begins to endorse and support Republican candidates in the general elections through passing out signs and literature.

Do Precinct Captains have duties other than canvassing their districts?

     Precinct Captains may be asked to serve on a sub-committee that organizes fundraising and social events, or develops marketing and advertising campaigns. They may also choose to volunteer their time answering questions, registering voters and passing out literature in the exhibition booth during the Clark County Fair and other outreach opportunities.

Are there opportunities to develop friendships within the Central Committee?

  

      Although the Clark County Republican Party is working hard to support conservative values in our community, there is also time to have fun. Social activities and get togethers at local restaurants give members the opportunity to relax and get to know each other.
